Hard times in Leavenworth then on to Andrew's

Leavenworth WA does the polka
Leavenworth is a Washington town that turned to schmaltz when its traditional economy died.  It is now themed as a village in the Bavarian Alps, and is very popular.  We’ve been here before and I hated it, but today – in the nice sun and with snow-frosted mountains as a backdrop – it isn’t half-bad.  Much more tolerable than Solvang.  But still, I could do without the polka soundtrack.
Heading for Stevens Pass and Seattle
Pushing on, we crossing the 4000’ Stevens Pass where snow still clings to the shadows, and arrive at Andrew’s townhouse on the north edge of Seattle late in the afternoon.

Amber and Rudy

Marcia, Freddie, Andrew
We receive a rousing welcome from Andrew and Amber, their dogs Freddie and Tess, his cat Pumpkin, and a deaf but not infirm old rescue dachshund named Rudy.  In an animal sense, it is like we never left Kerry’s, but the ratio has tipped in favor of dogs.  (They like fosters and rescue animals and at one time kept four large ugly ducks outside their townhouse, but the raccoons got them all.)

A pleasant break from trailering at Andrew's Seattle townhouse.
We expect to sleep on the inflatable mattress in an extra bedroom but they insist we take the master bedroom, and we are very comfortable.
