We may sound lazy, but this was another welcome day of
leisure and chore accomplishment, although later we feel guilty for not taking
a hike in the park.
JJ surprises us by holding the drivers meeting at the Denali
Grande Lodge, which is perched high up a hillside overlooking the tacky looking
commercial village. We drive up a
winding mixed paved and gravel access road.
Each turn has a yellow warning signs, such as “Watch for Falling
Coconuts”, and “Freeway Ends”. We are
welcomed with cheese-and-cracker appetizers and special pricing on bar drinks,
plus afterwards discounted meals for those interested in staying for dinner –
all negotiated by JJ at no cost to the caravan.
The group is happy.
